2013 Highlights

 

January:

We rang in the New Year in the best way possible – relaxing at home!!

Shower preparations underway!

Poor Oscar hurt his back and had to be crated for a few weeks!  We had to carry him everywhere!

February:

Kourtney’s valentine-themed shower that I threw at Jean’s

March:

Trip to the Smokies – we hiked to the Jump Off and also hiked Laurel Falls (pictured above).

Elton John Concert!

A Paleo Easter at Susan & Doster’s before heading home for Kourtney’s wedding week!

April:

Kourtney & Brian’s wedding!

May:

Brent competed in a ride in Chattanooga the same weekend as Daddy’s surprise birthday party at Gondolier!

June:

Another trip to the Smokies to see the synchronous fireflies, hike Grotto Falls & Rocky Top!

Our 10-year anniversary cruise – best vacation ever!

July:

A trip home – swimming with my little bestie!

During the same trip, I got to reunite with two of my high school best friends – Maigan & Becca – both very pregnant!!

August:

Kourt & Brian came to Tuscaloosa for a visit!

Brent & I spent a day in Birmingham – shopping, eating & sightseeing in our old city!

Another trip to the Smokies!  We hiked the Chimney Tops, visited Clingman’s Dome for a foggy sunrise, and saw a bear up close at Cade’s Cove!  We also surprised Mama as we passed back through Chattanooga!

September:

The Color Run with Kourt & Brian!

October:

A trip to the Smokies to see the fall colors

Another trip up Mount LeConte!

A trip to Baltimore for Brent’s conference & hiking Old Rag in Shennandoah National Park

While in Baltimore, I got to see Ashley – another best friend from high school!

Halloween!

November:

We found out we were pregnant!

We went home to support Halie in her first beauty pageant.

We went home for Thanksgiving & hiked Abram Falls while we were in so that I could get my 100 mile pin!

December:

We celebrated our last Christmas as a family of 2 & surprised our families with the news!

While we were in, we hiked Mount LeConte one more time!

And we celebrated a champagne-free New Year’s Eve with John & Amy Price!

 

This is only the highlights – many more memories were made than what can be listed here.  What a year!  We had so much fun!!!!

Miscellaneous December 2013 Highlights

This is a Full Moon BBQ “Big Baker.”  It has been my biggest pregnancy craving so far.  Literally I would get one of these on my mind and could.not.get.it.off.  Poor Brent!  One day he made the mistake of mentioning that a friend had given us a coupon for another BBQ place and that was all it took – I called & asked if he would pick up a Big Baker for supper.  One time I drove to get us one and I thought I would *die* before I could make it back home to eat it (about 1.5 miles!). The good thing about it is that it is way too big to eat it all at one time, so we usually cut it in half and take the other half home or save it for another meal. That means if I get one, I get two days of it.  And it actually gets better after sitting in the refrigerator for a day or two!!!

We finally got to see the Alabama Shakes in concert!  It was awesome!  We also discovered St. Paul & the Broken Bones, who were also great!

Dying to have a baby bump, but just not there yet.  Also loving the pug shirt Brent got me!

New Year’s Eve was spent with our friends John & Amy.  We wore pajamas, ate finger foods, watched football and played Taboo.  Then we left promptly at 12:01 so we could all get in bed.  It was the perfect way to spent NYE!  (Also, that is sparkling cider!)
