Valentine’s Day Festivities

This morning I had a surprise waiting on me:

010

Four cards + Cadbury eggs!  How lucky am I?  I got 2 cards from Brent, one from Milly and one from Oscar!

My card to Brent:

We debated about where to go to lunch and finally decided on Wintzell’s Oyster House.  Brent had been before and didn’t really care for it, but he decided to try something different today since I have been wanting to try it. I discovered my love for oysters (cooked only, but not fried!) during our trip to Orange Beach last summer.

Its not really that pretty of a day, but we did get to sit by the window, which was nice as it overlooks the river.

OYSTERS!!!!

They were really, really good!  I ordered them grilled and they came in a butter sauce + parmesan cheese.  They were actually very large.  Delicious!  A baked potato came on the side.  Brent had shrimp and grits and could not finish all of his food. He said it was good.  I didn’t taste it, but it looked really good.

After that we went to Sam’s, Sears, and Academy Sports.  We saw a really good deal on an elliptical trainer at Sam’s last week and had talked about getting it for V-Day.  Unfortunately it was gone, and we really didn’t find another one for a comparable price.

We buried our sorrows (ha!) in dessert:

These cookie ice cream sandwiches came from Cold Stone Creamery and were very good, but too much!  They would have been perfect half this size.

Very good!  Now we are back at home contemplating the rest of the afternoon: movie??  gym??  exercise at the VA??  grocery shopping??  I think a nap might be in my near future…….

Friday Snow Day

We finally got snow in Tuscaloosa!  With Valentine’s Day this weekend, today felt like a holiday at work.  It snowed almost all day and although it didn’t really stick to the ground , it was so pretty to look at!

Pugs weren’t sure what to think!

The special Valentine’s Day lunch menu at work was “Surf + Turf.”  They served steak, shrimp, baked potato, salad, and a roll.  It was very good and we ate lunch by the window so we could watch the snow coming down!  But because we ate such a big lunch we decided to just stay in and watch TV/movies.  It was a nice, relaxing evening.  I believe Friday evenings (when I don’t have to work the weekend) are my very favorite night of the week.  And there is no better way to spend them than at home with Brent + the pugs.

My Friday night view: perfect!

Weekend plans include a raclette (cheese) dinner party, church, thrift store shopping (?), and Valentine’s Day festivities which are yet to be decided!
