It has been a memorable week. First and foremost, watching the tragedy unfold in Haiti has been yet another sobering reminder of how unequal quality of life is for others in the world. It disappoints me that it takes an event of this magnitude to make me think about and pray for individuals in other areas of the world. I just can’t imagine. I am so sheltered and protected.
What I have been impressed with is the general public interest and the massive fundraising efforts that have ensued. It seems like everyone wants to help. I hope that it is true, and that it is as much action as it is talk.

And to perhaps illustrate my point in the above paragraph and obviously, in much less important news, Tennessee hired a new football coach, Derek Dooley. Actually I had never heard of him before, but we were totally impressed by his press conference. He seems like he has lots of honesty and integrity and has that sweet good ol’ boy charm that goes a long way in Tennessee. I think this will be a nice change and I am interested in seeing what happens with the program.

American Idol started this week with Atlanta tryouts. Funny as usual! There was even a girl from Monroe County, TN. I hope she makes it on the show! But by far, the best act was “Pants on the Ground.” I even heard it on the radio yesterday!

In Freeman Family News this was also eval week + audit committee prep week, always a bit stressful for Brent (the audit committee prep). Here’s to a nice, relaxing weekend!
