30 Weeks: My First Mother’s Day!

A lot of great things happened this week!

  • 30 week appointment + 3D ultrasound
  • We got our new living room furniture
  • Mother’s Day!
  • We joined Circlewood Baptist Church – our first time joining a church together.

First, our appointment!

This ultrasound was kind-of a do-over from last time.  We got one good pic (above), then LB turned his back to us!  He must be shy like his Mama.  Look at that pretty boy!  Again, he was measuring perfect – just exactly like all the apps say he should be.  This time it was 3 lbs, 4 oz!  My belly is also measuring perfectly at 30 cm.  I can believe how big the little fella is getting!  Growing so fast!

Nursery progress – added some curtains and some little shelves (?) from Tuesday morning that we stacked on top of each other.  It is coming together – I’m really ready to have it all finished! Smile

Mother’s Day was great, thanks to Brent.  We joined our church (they played Rocky top on the piano!) and I got my first Mother’s Day gift!

The church is wonderful & the people are SO NICE….even though we did get quite a few “Roll Tides” when they came through & shook our hands.  Also, I thought the outfit above looked better than it did! Sad smile As soon as we got in the car after church I had to take that belt off….oh my goodness.  I could barely breathe.  After church we went to Target & I had to size up!

And of course: belly pics! Getting bigger & bigger! I feel SO GOOD!  I cannot believe how great I feel! Funny story: First, most people have been SO NICE to me while pregnant – very encouraging, telling me that I am looking good, telling me I don’t look that big, basically just saying what I want to hear (enablers!). I know not to take these comments to heart because people are just trying to be nice.  However, I did get a truly ambiguous comment at CVS.  A black man saw me walking by, stopped, looked me up & down, & said a curse word just loud enough for me to hear.  I have NO IDEA what it meant!  (I’m really not THAT big, am I?) Don’t really care – we laughed about it all day long!

And another childbirth class!!  This time we took a tour and learned how to breath to help the pain!  It was a good class – I am so excited!  And I was by far getting around much better than the other girls in my class!  Ha ha – I hope none of them find the blog, but seriously – some of them were acting really uncomfortable – and we are almost all due within 2 weeks of each other.

Weeks 29 Update: Hanging Out

Really not much to update for this week! We had some really bad weather, requiring us to take cover in the neighbor’s basement.  Thankfully we didn’t get anything besides some flooding, but it was still scary.  Other highlights include:

  • Watching the bump get bigger & bigger!  I love letting my belly “hang out” - we just sit & watch the baby move.  I LOVE it – the highlight of my day!  Brent can see & feel it also!  It’s so big!  I guess my belly button is not going to pop out, although it is pretty shallow!
  • Reading – I’ve been going through lots and lots of books
  • Working on the house/nursery
  • Eating at Jalepenos, a new Mexican restaurant near the house –> so good!
  • Sunday school party
  • Hanging out with the pugs!
  • Exercise – going to the gym 2x per week + walking at home with the dogs

I don’t have too many pictures for this week, mostly just of me.

28 Weeks: The Beginning of the End & a 4D Ultrasound!

This week marks the beginning of the third trimester!  I can’t believe it!  The most exciting thing this week was the 28 week appointment & 4D ultrasound. Look at our sweet boy!  (Just so everyone knows, we have been calling him “LB” - this stands for “little buddy/Brent/boy/baby.”)

IMG_1740IMG_1743IMG_1744IMG_1745

(Right now the general consensus is that he looks like me, but at least one of my coworkers thinks he looks like Brent.  I definitely think that’s my nose, but the first pic from the side looks like Brent. I guess we will have to see when we meet him!)  The great news is that he is measuring perfectly, within 1 day of the due date!  He weighs 2 lbs, 8 ounces…just a tiny little thing!  I definitely feel pregnant with all of the movement inside, but it is hard for me to believe that the little boy in the pics above is an actual person that I am carrying inside of me!  Technology is so amazing…I can’t believe we can actually see him!  The good news is that we get to try again in 2 weeks!

Brent got to go to the ultrasound, which was in the afternoon, but couldn’t go to the actual appointment this morning.  Some highlights from the actual appointment:

  • +6 pounds, for a total of 21 total pounds gained (on track, but hopefully will slow down after this)
  • belly is measuring 28 cm - perfect!
  • passed the glucose tolerance test – barely!!  By one point! Oooops!  I knew it would be bad when I thought the drink tasted good!
  • told the doctor my worst symptom was the moods & she suggested that I eat chocolate! Woo hoo!
  • got a Rhogam shot so my body doesn’t make antibodies to LB’s blood since I am O- and Brent is A+
  • got a tetanus shot according to CDC recommendations
  • got a syphillis test (required by the state of Alabama)
  • another urine culture!  Hopefully the bacteria is gone!
  • my OB appointments change from every 4 weeks to every 2 weeks!

Other news – hunger is definitely gone.  I have been doing so much better with my eating.  Also, suddenly I have TONS of energy – I am definitely nesting, attempting to get everything ready to bring LB home.  My mood is great and I am doing great with exercise!  I get full so fast so it is hard to overeat.  I am glad about this and hoping that the weight gain will slow.

Pictures!  The first three pics are from the day of the appointment. We always take selfies in the waiting room!

And some other pics in my clothes (and underclothes – please don’t click on the first pic & blow it up!).  My belly is so big!  I love it!  Although I do miss the being as “small” as I used to be – even though I wasn’t really a small person, just small in comparison!

For reference, here are some other pics of me in scrubs (~19 weeks & ~26 weeks & this week):
