Weekending: Color Running

IMG_3691

On Saturday we participated in the Color Run -  a unique 5k run/walk to benefit the Read Bama Read organization.  The idea is that you start out with a white t-shirt and at the end are covered in paint (powdered paint).  4,000 people came out in Tuscaloosa for the event.  It was crazy!

This is our before and after:

The race was held at Sokol Park. We got there about an hour early.  It was already packed out, but we were lucky to find a parking spot near the start line.

Brent scoped out the competition.  Even though this was not even a timed race, AND we were planning on walking (no running for me after disc surgery!), Brent was mentally calculating how many people he could pass.

The course was flat and very easy and went by in no time!  Even though we were splattered in paint at the end, it was nothing too crazy.  But it wasn’t over yet!  Every 15 minutes the finishers stand in a huge crowd with packets of paint you get in your race packet and on the count of 10, everyone throws the paint in the air.  This was my view during the paint cloud.  You can’t see anything!  Totally was not expecting that!

Here’s what it looks like from a distance – we were watching the paint cloud from the next wave of finishers. Crazy!

We met a friend and her friend and had a team of four:

We had so much fun!
