Gray Saturday

016

Today was a little rainy and overcast, but we still had a great day!  Perfect mix of relaxing + productive.  Brent couldn’t ride because of the weather, so we ended up sleeping later than usual, getting some housework done, then going for lunch at Mellow Mushroom before getting groceries.

When we got home, I went straight for this:

And took a loooooong nap.  Tonight we ended up braving the nasty weather and going to the Plantation House with our friends.  They have this amazing wonderful spectacular shrimp & corn chowder on the salad bar.  I ate so much of it that I had to bring my actual meal home in a to-go box. This restaurant has the BEST chicken fingers ever, so we have that to look forward to tomorrow!

And look what we found in our kitchen cabinets!!!

I’m a little embarrassed that Thelma might see this, but oh well.   It is remarkable. We were growing a garden & didn’t even know it.

Peanut brittle!  So good!  This whole container was gone in 3 days.

I drive through Alberta City every single day on the way to/from work and it is still shocking over 9 months later.  Still so much rubble.

On the way to the Arboretum, trying to make it before sundown!

So, a story for you -

Oscar & Sookie walk on a leash at the park, but Milly doesn’t.  Most other dogs are not on a leash either.  So there were lots and lots of people & dogs at the Arboretum and at one point, Milly walked right  over to a group of people & dogs.  Brent handed me the leash for Sookie and Oscar and went to get her.  Several people/dogs from  the group came over to see our dogs & I got to talking about how we found Sookie & took her in.  Then, Oscar & Sookie both started getting out of control – wanting to chase/play with the other dogs, and Oscar got tangled up in his leash and started going in circles.  So, I was struggling to hold on to Sookie (who really wants to fight other dogs) and help Oscar get untangled.  AND I’m really trying not to bend over so much at the waist, so it was really awkward and frustrating. So I’m thinking “WHERE IS BRENT?”  That’s when I turn around and see him standing a little ways off, chatting up a young pretty little college girl while he is “trying to get Milly.”  Of course.  There was grinning and laughing and meanwhile his WIFE is looking like an absolute fool keeping up with (HIS) dogs.   He finally managed to tear himself away after I stood and bored holes in the back of his head with my eyes.  Nice one, Brent.  I will remember that.
